If you enjoy hiking at night you of course to have an artificial light source to help you see. That light source, is a headlamp.
The Pro 7 is one of a range of headlamps available from Energizer. If we look at functions, there are four light modes and a strobe feature available. These modes are delivered via seven LED bulbs and each mode is chosen using an operating button on the top center of the headlamp. Pretty standard fair for a headlamp. As mentioned, the headlamp utilizes four light settings or modes:
- Red Night Vision
- White Area Light
- Spot Light
- Flood Light
As well as the four light modes listed above the Energizer 7 LED headlamp includes a strobe feature. The headlamp’s LEDs provide a maximum output of 115 lumens of bright white light and reach a distance of 25 meters.
The headlamp features a water-resistant construction and is easy to put on with a flexible headband with comfort cushioning. This makes the headlamp easy to wear for long periods of time even in the toughest conditions.
The Energizer 7 LED headlamp sits on a pivot which can turn up to 90 degrees to aim, target and position light where you need it without having to remove it.
It is powered by three AAA Energizer Max Alkaline batteries and has a run time of up to 5.5 hours on the maximum setting. The batteries can easily be replaced by simply removing the headband and accessing the back panel of the head light. The easy-open battery compartment makes changing batteries convenient and easy when you are on the move on the trail.
This little gadget is good for hiking, camping, and a multitude of other outdoor activities at night.
Tip: always remember to carry extra batteries with you just in case they run out.
Finally, Aside from the obvious safety advantages of just being able to see where you are walking, the headlamp is also very useful to let others see you. For example any drivers you may pass on roads while out and about.
As per the customer average rating listed above, the Energizer 7 LED headlamp is a very popular choice with folks and this gadget has some very good reviews with an average of 4.5 stars.
The video below goes into some of the features in a lot more detail.

Specs (at a glance):

- Provides 100 lumens of light
- Light beams reach a distance of 25 meters
- Water-resistant construction

Conclusion
I think the Energizer Pro 7 LED Headlamp isn’t a bad piece of kit but it probably wouldn’t be my number one choice for a headlamp. I currently use the Black Diamond Storm and while it is a bit a heavy on juice, I am very happy with it’s performance and capabilities.
The Pro 7 is a great little entry level headlamp if you’re just getting into night hiking or if you enjoy a bit of camping now and then. From looking at it, I get the feeling that it couldn’t take too many hard knocks before it had problems, but for €15 to €17, you can’t go too far wrong for that price.
Have you used the Energizer Pro 7 LED Headlamp? I’d love to hear your thoughts on it in the comments below!

I have the Energizer model listed in your article. It was one of the first “headband” lamp on the mass market. I bought it at one of the big big box stores in 2013 (4 years ago from today). Love them. Bought 3 for nightscaping co-workers. All 3 still going strong. But on brightest setting, It burns thru batteries. 5.5 hours on high is a little exaggerated because it begins dimming before that. Can I use as different type of battery in this lamp? Can I use rechargable batteries in this model to save me money on burning thru AAA batteries w/o losing lumens? It takes 3 AAA. I would prefer a charger that I can plug into 12v DC in my truck. thanks

Hey Bryan, glad to hear you had a good experience with the Energizer. I had good experiences with the Pro 7 too. That’s cool you and your colleagues were using it for nightscaping. That sounds like an interesting job, working with accent lighting on properties and so on, that’s cool. Regarding your question re: using rechargeable batteries in the Energizer pro 7, I can’t honestly say that I have tried that, but I see no reason why it wouldn’t work. If the rechargeable batteries are of a good enough quality, I would hope you wouldn’t lose lumens too quickly. However, you would probably need to recharge them regularly enough, as you may only get a few hours at full setting on them, and even the rechargeable batteries will have to be replaced at some point too. It should definitely work out to be more economical than buying new batteries every time though I reckon. I think the only way to really know is to test it out and see how it performs against your needs. I Hope that helps.

Mine, 7 led energizer, a month old, looks like the picture, had the feautures, only there are 2 red LED’s. Spot and flood are 3 and 5, that leaves 2 🙂
