In this website I aim to help all types of hikers. Whether it’s the newbie hiker who wants to get started with hiking as quickly and safely as possible, or the seasoned veteran hiker who just wants to learn about a new tip or trick, I hope to provide useful information for all.
I will be looking into all things related to getting out on the trail and a whole lot more 🙂 I also hope to learn a thing or two myself in the process. I’m a passionate hiker and have been hiking since I was a kid so I have my own special interest in all the various bits of information I will be adding to the site on an ongoing basis.
The Goal of This Site
The main goal of this site is to provide useful information to all types of hikers and, where possible, have a bit of fun in the process. The main focus of the information on this site can be split down further into four main areas.
1. Hiking Gear
Whether you’re new to hiking or an experienced trailhead, gear is important. There is a shed load of hiking gear available on the market today. As with anything, there is loads of great stuff and loads of not so great stuff. I aim to help you:
- Figure out what gear you actually need (If you’re new to hiking)
- Know what to look for when buying
- Get a fair idea of price ranges
I aim to help with this by providing gear buying guides and recommending some hiking gear via gear reviews on the site. The gear I recommend on the site is chosen using a mix of:
- My own experience using it myself
- Recommendations from trusted fellow hikers
- Customer feedback and review ratings from across the web
As mentioned above, there is so much gear available today, I try to break it down into manageable chunks using the aforementioned reviews and feature comparison tables. I will also be adding price comparison tables and coupons to help ensure you get the best price.
So why ‘cool’ hiking gear. Well, generally speaking I have always found hiking gear to be the most versatile type of gear you can get and have always thought it to be some of the coolest stuff you can buy. While necessary and crucial for hiking, in many cases it can also easily double up for optimal day-to-day functional use.
By design, modern hiking gear is of course created to be more durable, comfortable and versatile than standard day-to-day clothing. Therefore, much of the available ranges and fashions can crossover very nicely from alpine peaks to urban jungles. A win-win!
2. Hiking Guides and Resources
This is a big one. I already mentioned gear buying guides but there is so much more to cover when it comes to hiking. I will cover topics that are relevant to folks new to hiking as well as more experienced hikers. From safety on the trail, to good day hike preparation, to leave no trace, to ongoing tips and tricks, navigation, etc. There is a lot to cover!
I am also considering publishing an eBook and so, all being well, I hope to be adding it up to the site in the coming months.
3. Hiking Locations
Finally, I will be adding regular blog updates to the site from my own hikes and where feasible, where I get some nice shots, photos from them.
I will also be regularly adding any other useful and pertinent information on other top hiking locations and resources I come across that you might find useful for your own hiking adventures.
4. Galleries & Videos
A picture say’s a thousand words as they say so I aim to add up lots of them as time goes on. I always endeavor to be visual in my informational and ‘how to’ blog posts however, this is a bit more than that and going all out on the visual side of things.
Think of it as a bit more of the fun element I mentioned above. Just lots of great pictures and maybe a video or two covering a particular topic or mountain range in the world. That type of idea anyway. I enjoy creating and getting them together so hope you get a lot from them too.
Thanks for stopping by and I really hope you find the information on the site useful. Please feel free to drop me a note should you have any questions on anything.
