In this website I will be looking into all things related to the coolest hiking gear available on the net today.
I’m a passionate hiker and have been hiking since I was a kid so I have my own special interest in all the various bit’s of information I will be adding to the site over the coming weeks, months and years.
With the above in mind, I will be adding regular blog updates to the site from my own hikes and where feasible, if I get some nice shots, photos from them. Finally, I will also be regularly adding any other useful and pertinent information on other hiking resources I come across that you might find useful for your own hiking adventures.
So why ‘cool’ hiking gear. Well, generally speaking I have always found hiking gear to be the most versatile type of gear you can get and have always thought it to be some of the coolest stuff you can buy. While necessary and crucial for hiking, in many cases it can also easily double up for optimal day-to-day functional use.
For example, you know when it’s raining cats and dogs in the autumn or when the snow is falling heavy on a bitterly cold winters day with a biting wind chill factor, is there any jacket you would rather be in than a wind-proof and waterproof hiking jacket? Definitely not! It keeps me dry and warm when moving about from A TO B!
Or … say when you’re on a short city break to a beautiful location or cultural gem like Paris. You’re planning to fill your days visiting the many historic sites, wondrous monuments and beautiful tourist attractions. What better to have on your feet than a trusty pair of hiking shoes as you traverse the cobbled stones of it’s romantic back streets or cruise across the Champs-Élysées from the Arc de Triomphe to the Place de la Concorde.
In short, hiking gear serves not only as a necessity when out venturing through the beautiful wilds of the mountains and forests across the globe, but is also a truly functional range of attire that is both practical and aesthetically pleasing. Practical, in that you are assured extra comfort in day-to-day circumstances, and aesthetically pleasing as simply put, a lot of hiking gear just looks great.
Of course, in saying that, some hiking gear does need to be kept specifically for the wilderness. You probably wouldn’t look too good walking across Paris with Hiking sticks or showing up to a Michelin starred restaurant in London with your gaiters on now would you.
How and ever, the general point still remains. By design, modern hiking gear is created to be more durable, comfortable and versatile than standard day-to-day clothing. Therefore, much of the available ranges and fashions can crossover very nicely from alpine peaks to urban jungles.
